Request for Proposal (RFP) for Tree Removal on Residential Lots

Requested Services

To fell and remove several trees from nine residential lots where the City will be constructing homes. The trees must be felled and left with a two-foot stump. Contractor will not be responsible for removing the stumps. Contractor will be responsible for the removal and disposal of felled trees from the sites. All trees must be felled and removed from each site by April 15. A contract will be issued to the successful bidder are the March 12 City Commission meeting.

Project Location and Specifics

There are nine separate parcels of land with various trees that need to be removed. All lots are owned by the City of Muskegon. Trees for removal have been marked with an orange X. Interested parties may visit the lots to survey the land. The lots include:

Contractor Qualifications

• Proof of applicable licenses and certifications.
• Proof of insurance in the amount of $1,000,000, naming City of Muskegon as additional insured.

Requirements for Proposal

The proposal submission will include:

1. A brief history of the company and experience in similar projects.
2. An inventory of the trees to be removed from each site.
3. The total cost of cutting down and removing all marked trees from the properties.
4. A timeline of when the project will begin and end.
5. Proof of insurance as stated above.

Contract and Award Process and Criteria
Proposals will be evaluated and reviewed by staff, based upon the criteria required in the RFP and how well the response to the criteria meets or exceeds the services required.

Deadline for submissions: Tuesday, March 5, 2024 by 2:00 p.m.

Sealed bid (hard copy proposal packet), according to the criteria listed above, need to be delivered to the address below. Our hours are 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. – Monday thru Thursday. No emailed bids or late bids will be accepted.
