The City of Kalamazoo, Michigan (City) is seeking a 36 CFR Part 61 qualified consultant meeting the professional qualifications for Historian and/or Architectural Historian (Consultant) to carry out a complete analysis of the data collected by volunteers in the Inventory Kalamazoo reconnaissance level Historic Resource Survey (“reconnaissance level survey”) of up to 5,000 properties within the Survey Area (Northside neighborhood, Central Business District, West Main Hill neighborhood, Eastside neighborhood, Vine neighborhood, Stuart neighborhood, Douglas neighborhood, Southside neighborhood, Westnedge Hill neighborhood and Oakwood neighborhood, Kalamazoo, Michigan), as shown in the scope map (Appendix B); as well as completing Historic Resource Survey Reports (“Survey Reports”) of up to 5,000 properties within the Survey Area, as shown in Appendix B.
The properties included in the survey will be determined based on the capacity of the Consultant and through consultation with the City and the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO). The Consultant’s final report is intended to serve as a basis for future Intensive Level Survey, National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) nominations, Section 106, Historic Preservation Tax Credits, and preservation planning.
