Notice of Intent to Sole Source Requirement

The Department of Veterans Affairs, NCO 10 Contracting Activity intends to negotiate a sole source contract under Simplified Acquisition Procedures and the authority of FAR Part 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source for the following items listed below for the Ann Arbor VA Medical Center. The associated NAICS code for this is 339112. The vendor will be Stryker Surgical Corp (large business)

4100 E Milham Ave, Portage MI 49002.

Description of requirements:

Sternal Saw Instruments

Stryker Medical is the manufacturer for the Sternal Saw Instruments. There are other distributors but due to the urgent nature of the requirement Stryker Surgical Corp is the only vendor able to overnight the product for immediate use. This equipment is being requested in accordance with FAR 6.302-2, Unusual and Compelling Urgency. The Sternal Saw Instruments are needed immediately, which precludes full and open competition because delay in award of a contract will result in serious injury, financial or other, to the VA. A shortage of this equipment will cause delays in surgeries and will continue to effect patient care until resolved. This will be Sole Sourced to Stryker Surgical Corp, a Large Business entity, IAW FAR Part 13.106-1(b)(1)(i)

A firm fixed price PO with no options is anticipated and shall be awarded. It is the Government's belief that only the proposed candidate possesses the required capabilities to successfully meet this requirement. It is the Government's intention to solicit and negotiate with only this source.

This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. It is not a solicitation or request for offers. No solicitation package is available. No responses will be accepted as this is urgent situation. This notice is for information only.
