Environmental Remediation Services Construction project to implement system upgrade recommendations for the Ott Story Superfund Site Operable Unit #2 Groundwater Remedy in Muskegon (Dalton Township), Michigan. The design is intended to improve the effectiveness of the collection system to maintain contaminated groundwater plume capture and contaminant mass removal for the OU1/OU2 remedy. The work includes the following major items: a. Install new extraction wells, associated appurtenances, and connect to existing system. New wells are numbered to coordinate with existing wells: EW-2a, EW-3a, EW 4a, EW-5a, EW-6b.b. Installation of three new rehabilitation wells at each new EW location (total of 15 wells) to allow for chemical rehabilitation of the well and aquifer immediately surrounding the well. c. Installation of below grade electrical conduit within concrete ductbank from each new EW location back to the control panel. d. Installation of above-ground weatherproof enclosures for each new extraction well piping and flow measurement equipment. e. Upgrade and replace existing manifold piping and appurtenances in below grade EW vaults (EW-1, EW-2, EW-3, EW-4, EW-5, EW-7, EW-8 and EW-9) with PVC materials (3-inch diameter). f. Replace all system flow meters with consistent make/model. g. Install pressure gauges on collection lines E and F in Valve Vaults 1, 2 and 3. There are no existing gauges in the vaults. No comm or power wiring for gauges is required. h. Install new standby back-up power generation and control for the new well extraction well network. i. Upgrade controls infrastructure to allow remote monitoring of the expanded well extraction well network. j.
